Trump says tariffs on China will not be 145%, it will be ‘substantially lower’

US President Donald Trump said at the White House on Tuesday that the tariff on China will not be 145% – it will be substantially lower. He clarified that it won’t be zero as it was earlier, but it will be lower than 145%. Speaking at the White House, he said that China and the US are in talks and will definitely lower the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods.
Meanwhile, China had issued a stern warning to other countries against entering trade agreements with the United States that would come at Beijing’s expense.
The statement came amid reports that the Donald Trump administration is preparing to pressure other nations into limiting trade with China in exchange for tariff exemptions from the US.
The US has imposed a 145% tariff on Chinese goods, while China has retaliated with a 125% tariff on US imports.
Chinese officials have also argued that US tariffs are damaging the global multilateral trading system and go against the principles of fair trade.
