US President Donald Trump has responded to climate activist Greta Thunberg’s claim of being kidnapped by Israeli forces after the interception of the humanitarian aid ship Madleen, suggesting she “should take anger management classes.”

Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) intercepted the Madleen a ship carrying humanitarian supplies and 12 international activists, including Thunberg near the Gaza coast on Monday. Following the interception, Thunberg posted a video on social media claiming the group had been ‘kidnapped’ by Israel.

In response, the IDF released a statement confirming the safety of all passengers aboard the vessel, clarifying that they had been taken to Israel and would be repatriated. “They are safe and are being returned to their home countries,” the statement noted.

When asked about Thunberg’s claim during a press interaction, Trump reportedly criticised the activist, saying, She should take anger management classes. He went on to describe her as a strange, angry young person, saying he wasn’t sure if it’s real anger or something else.

Trump also added that Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg.

As of the latest update, all 12 activists who were aboard the Madleen have safely reached Ben Gurion Airport and were deported back to their respective countries.
