US President Donald Trump has claimed that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) shared that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is ‘gay’, though it provided no evidence to support the assertion, as per reports.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump reportedly said intelligence inputs had indicated the claim, adding that “a lot of people are saying that”, without elaborating further.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions involving Iran, where strict laws criminalise homosexuality under the Islamic Penal Code.

Trump reportedly suggested that such claims could have implications for the leader’s standing in the country, though officials have not independently verified the assertion.

The US President also criticised sections of activists in the West whom he described as supporting Palestine despite its stance on LGBTQ rights, alleging that such groups were backing regimes that persecute homosexuals.

There has been no official response from Iranian authorities to the remarks.

Mojtaba Khamenei assumed leadership following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, in a recent strike, an incident that has contributed to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
