President Donald Trump has called the Jeffrey Epstein scandal a ‘hoax,’ claiming it is being used by Democrats and 'fake news' to distract from his record, even as he said any “credible” Epstein files should be released.

“I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It’s pretty boring stuff,” Trump said, adding, “I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump linked the Epstein scandal to what he called other ‘fake’ Democratic attacks, including the Steele Dossier and investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election, calling them ‘scams and hoaxes.’ He also criticised his ‘past supporters’ for buying into what he now calls the ‘Jeffrey Epstein Hoax,’ saying, “Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats’ work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore.”

The statement comes despite Trump’s past campaign remarks indicating he would ‘probably’ release Epstein-related files if elected. His latest comments have sparked backlash among those demanding transparency in the Epstein case.

An Epstein Files official also responded, stating: “President Trump calls the Epstein scandal a hoax and declares that he no longer wants the support of anyone who still cares about it.”
