Trump attacks Indian-origin NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calls him ‘100% communist lunatic’

US President Donald Trump has unleashed a political attack against Zohran Mamdani, the Indian-origin progressive who recently won the Democratic primary for New York City’s mayoral race.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump labeled the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist a “100% Communist Lunatic” and criticised the broader progressive movement supporting him. He also took swipes at high-profile allies of Mamdani, including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“It’s finally happened – the Democrats have gone too far. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, just won the Democratic primary and is now heading toward City Hall,” Trump wrote. “We’ve seen radical leftists before, but this is getting out of hand.”

Trump added: “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart. He’s backed by AOC+3 – all dummies – and even our so-called Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling to him. A big moment in the decline of our country!”

Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist, is the son of Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair and Ugandan-born Indian scholar Mahmood Mamdani. He secured 43.5% of the vote in the primary, emerging victorious after former Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded.
