Trinity College Dublin has reportedly voted to sever all institutional ties with Israeli universities and companies based in Israel, according to media reports.

The move is said to reportedly include a complete end to investments, commercial partnerships, and academic or research collaborations involving Israeli entities. It will also reportedly bring an end to Erasmus+ student exchange agreements with Israeli universities.

If fully implemented, Trinity would become the first university in Ireland to formally adopt recommendations for full divestment from Israeli institutions and companies. The decision is reportedly  believed to follow a series of discussions within a joint task force made up of both student and staff representatives.

While Ireland engages in minimal trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin has previously described such measures as largely symbolic, aligning with Ireland’s formal recognition of a Palestinian state in 2024.

A bill on broader national divestment is under discussion but is not expected to pass in Parliament until later this year.
