Travelling to Thailand may become more expensive for Indians travellers starting April 27, as the Royal Thai Embassy has announced new, higher visa and consular fees.

The revised fees will apply to all visa applications made in India after April 27. However, Indian tourists visiting Thailand for short trips can still enjoy the 60 days visa free entry, which remains unchanged.

Under new rules, a transit visa will cost ₹2,500. A single entry tourist visa will cost ₹3,000, while a multiple entry tourist visa will be ₹13,500. Non immigrant visa will start at ₹7,000 and can go up to ₹30,000 for multiple entries.

For long term stays, the fees are significantly higher. The SMART visa will cost between ₹30,000 and ₹1,20,000 depending on the duration. The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) will cost ₹30,000, and Long Term Resident (LTR) visa will cost ₹1,40,000.

The new pricing mainly affects travellers who plan to stay longer, such as professionals, businessmen, and digital nomads. Short-term tourists visiting for holidays are unlikely to be affected much.

Travel experts advise applicants to check official updates and apply early to avoid delays. Travellers are also encouraged to plan their budgets carefully, especially if they are considering long term stays. Before travelling, passengers should confirm if they qualify for visa-free entry, keep extra budget for unexpected costs, and consider travel insurance for safety.
