In the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2025, World No 1 Jannik Sinner defeated Ben Shelton to secure his place in the semifinals, where he will face 24-time major champion and sixth-ranked Novak Djokovic on Friday.

In the second semifinal, Taylor Fritz (ranked fifth) will take on Carlos Alcaraz (ranked second).

Sinner, who had sustained an elbow injury and was down two sets before advancing to the quarterfinals when Grigor Dimitrov retired during their fourth-round clash, eased any concerns about serious damage to his arm by neutralising Shelton’s power during their two-hour and 19-minute match on No 1 Court.

In his first Wimbledon meeting with Shelton, Sinner won seven consecutive points to take the opening-set tie-break before earning the only service breaks in the second and third sets to seal his victory. This marked Sinner’s sixth consecutive win over Shelton in their ATP head-to-head meetings.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic faced an injury scare during his quarterfinal match against Flavio Cobolli when the Serbian slipped on the grass and fell into a painful-looking split in the fourth set.
