President Trump says oil prices will 'plummet', promises Iran conflict will end soon

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the ongoing conflict involving Iran would end “very quickly” and predicted a sharp decline in global oil prices, claiming that Tehran was eager to reach an agreement with Washington, as per reports.
While speaking at a press conference in Washington, Trump reportedly said oil prices were expected to fall in the coming weeks due to abundant global supply. His remarks came amid rising crude prices triggered by tensions involving Iran, which have added to inflation concerns worldwide.
“There’s so much oil out there, they’re going to come plummeting down,” Trump said. “We’re going to end that war very quickly. They want to make a deal so badly.”
The comments came as the US Senate passed a resolution seeking to limit Trump’s war powers related to Iran. According to reports, senators approved a motion to discharge the resolution from committee in a 50-47 vote after multiple failed attempts.
Four Republican senators, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy reportedly joined most Democrats in backing the measure.
The resolution, introduced by Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, directs the President to remove US armed forces from hostilities involving Iran unless specifically authorised through a declaration of war or a formal military authorisation by Congress.
Reacting to the move, Democratic Senator Adam Schiff described the conflict as “unconstitutional” and welcomed the Senate vote, saying lawmakers were exercising their constitutional responsibility over war decisions.
Today, Senate Democrats once again forced a vote to demand an end to this unconstitutional war.

Senator Bernie Sanders reportedly also supported the resolution, saying Americans were opposed to spending “billions on endless wars” and instead wanted to focus on domestic challenges.
As per reports, the latest development comes amid ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran over a possible peace deal. Trump had earlier announced that a planned attack on Tehran was put on hold following appeals from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, while also warning that the US remained prepared for a “full, large-scale assault” if required.
