Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for his first state visit to the USA on June 20. The four-day-long US tour is scheduled to begin today and end on June 24.

Reportedly, he has a tight schedule during this trip, starting with the celebration of International Yoga Day at the UN headquarters, he will hold meetings with top Indian-American CEOs and will also be meeting Tesla CEO and Twitter owner Elon Musk. The trip is set to deepen the India-USA ties in key sectors like defence, trade, commerce, innovation, and technology, according to PM Modi’s tweet.

PM Modi’s US tour schedule:

Day 1: June 21

PM Modi will lead the International Yoga Day at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Representatives from 180 countries are likely to participate in this programme.

Day 2: June 22

US president Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will ceremonially welcome PM Modi at the White House.

A high-level meeting between PM Modi and US president Joe Biden to strengthen relations between the two nations.

PM Modi will address a joint session of the US Congress.

The day will conclude with a state dinner in honour of PM Modi hosted by Joe Biden and his wife.

Day 3: June 23

PM Modi is expected to attend lunch with US vice president Kamala Harris and secretary of state Antony Blinken.

Meeting with CEOs and professionals to discuss business partnerships and opportunities.

PM Modi to address the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Center in the evening, concluding with a dinner hosted by Indians.

Day 4: June 24 

PM Modi will leave the US on June 24 and will begin his official visit to Egypt. He has said that his Egypt tour will help “impart further momentum to our civilisational and multifaceted partnership.”

The preparations for the state dinner of PM Modi with US president Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden are noteworthy. White House’s executive chef and executive pastry chef will work along with the guest chef Nina Curtis to develop the menu. Not only that, Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell will also be present at the dinner.
