The White House on Thursday hailed Donald Trump as ‘The Peace President,’ even as the US leader expressed doubts about his chances of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize despite his repeated claims of having resolved multiple international conflicts.

Trump, who has often asserted that he helped ease tensions between India and Pakistan which India has publicly dismissed suggested that the Norwegian Nobel Committee might find a reason to overlook him for the award he believes he deserves.

Responding to a reporter’s question at the White House about his Nobel prospects, Trump said, “I have no idea… Marco (Secretary of State Rubio) would tell you we settled seven wars. We’re close to an eighth. I think we’ll resolve the Russia situation too. I don’t think anyone in history has done that many,” referencing US efforts to mediate between Israel and Hamas, and between Russia and Ukraine.

Although Trump noted that several countries had nominated him for the prize, he admitted, “Maybe they’ll find a reason not to give it to me.”

Meanwhile, the White House released a social media post featuring Trump with the caption, ‘The Peace President.’

The Republican leader has long coveted the Nobel Peace Prize, frequently questioning why his predecessor, Barack Obama, received it during his first year in office. Trump has often contrasted his record of brokering peace agreements with that of other world leaders, arguing that his achievements are “far greater” by comparison.
