Turbulence on flight

Panic ensued onboard a Korean Air flight after their Boeing 737 Max 8 reportedly developed a technical snag in its cabin pressurisation system on June 22 and was grounded within 50 minutes of its journey.

As per news reports, the flight took off from Seoul, South Korea, and was heading towards Taichung, Taiwan, but had to return to its origin at around 7.38 pm.

Although no injuries were reported among the 125 passengers onboard the flight, many of them complained of serious discomfort and health problems after the flight reportedly dipped more than 21,000 feet.

Incidents of nosebleeds, ear pain, and hyperventilation were reported by around 15 passengers. 13 of them were given immediate medical attention after the flight landed.

As per the accounts of an onboard passenger, the turbulence was experienced shortly after the meal was served, leading to the flight plummeting several thousand feet.

She recalled that the passengers suffered severe ear-head pain and dizziness, causing children onboard to start crying.

The cabin crew rapidly distributed oxygen mass among the passengers, she added.

Following this incident, Korean Air extended an apology and launched a probe to identify the cause of the system failure.
