Pakistan Supreme Court Orders Imran Khan’s Transfer To Private Hospital Amid Health Concerns

Pakistan's Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the immediate transfer of former prime minister Imran Khan from jail to a private hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment, in a significant development following growing concerns over his health.

The court directed authorities to move Khan to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours, where he will remain until September 16.

Medical Board To Assess Imran Khan’s Health

The Supreme Court has also ordered the formation of a medical board to evaluate Khan's condition during his hospitalisation.

The board will include Khan's personal doctor as well as his sister, Dr Aleema Khan, allowing doctors close to the former prime minister to participate in the assessment.

Khan Has Been In Jail For Over Three Years

The order comes as Khan, the former Pakistan prime minister and World Cup-winning cricket captain, has spent more than three years in custody.

Concerns about his health have intensified in recent days, accompanied by reports and rumours claiming that his condition had seriously deteriorated.

The court's decision to allow his transfer to a private hospital marks a notable development in the legal and political circumstances surrounding the former prime minister's continued detention.

Hospital Stay Ordered Until September 16

Under the Supreme Court's direction, Khan is to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours and remain there until September 16.
