The Taliban in Afghanistan on Thursday claimed that Pakistan carried out firing in the Spin Boldak area along the border, even as both sides are in the middle of ceasefire discussions in Istanbul.

According to the Taliban, its fighters have not responded to the firing yet in order to avoid harming civilians and to maintain the atmosphere around the talks.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the Taliban, posted on X that while the third round of talks with Pakistan is currently taking place in Istanbul, Pakistani forces allegedly fired again on Spin Boldak on Thursday afternoon, triggering panic among residents.

He further said the Taliban has refrained from reacting “out of respect” for the negotiation efforts.

Mujahid also reminded that during the previous round of dialogue, both sides had agreed to uphold the ceasefire and avoid any aggressive action.
