Pakistan developing long-range nuclear missile capable of reaching US: Reports

Pakistan is reportedly working on a long-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile system that could potentially reach targets within the United States, claimed media reports citing a report by US Foreign Affairs.
The report suggests that the project is being developed discreetly and could change Washington’s strategic outlook towards Islamabad.
At present, no country that possesses ICBMs (Intercontinental ballistic missile) capable of striking the United States is regarded as a US ally. If Pakistan develops such a capability, Washington will be forced to treat it as a nuclear adversary, stated the report.
Currently, nations considered nuclear adversaries by the United States include Russia, China, and North Korea all of which maintain operational ICBMs.
The report also notes that Islamabad may be receiving technological and strategic support from China as part of its alleged missile development program, particularly in the aftermath of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor.'
Historically, Pakistan’s missile development has centered on short- and medium-range systems designed to counter regional threats. The leap to an ICBM, a weapon with a range exceeding 5,500 kilometers, would be a major shift for the South Asian nation.
The intelligence has reportedly raised alarms in the US, with officials warning of potential consequences if the program moves forward.
