Pakistan admits role in 2019 Pulwama attack after ceasefire violation

A senior official in the Pakistan Air Force has reportedly openly acknowledged the country’s involvement in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, where 40 Indian paramilitary personnel lost their lives. The statement came during a high-profile press conference attended by both domestic and international media.
The comment, made by Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have been escalating following the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack. Pakistan had continued to deny involvement in both attacks, demanding evidence and maintaining a narrative of innocence – until now.
According to the reports, during a press briefing the Air Force official referred to Pulwama as a demonstration of military strategy and operational intent. He suggested that the incident was a calculated move intended to send a message, indirectly linking it to Pakistan’s broader defense posture.
The statement was made in the presence of top military spokespersons, including Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.
This admission marks the first time that Pakistan’s military establishment has moved away from its previous position of complete denial regarding Pulwama.
It also puts into question Pakistan’s continued claims of innocence in the recent Pahalgam attack, which left several civilians and security personnel dead.
The unexpected confession by a senior military figure not only confirms long-standing Indian allegations but also exposes the duplicity in Islamabad’s international narrative.
