New orleans attack: FBI finds Quran, raw material to make bombs in accused’s home
The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) had identified ISIS terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar and investigated his home. During the investigation, the FBI found an open Quran in his trailer in North Houston, along with materials for making bombs.
According to reports, the Quran was open to a specific chapter on violence, and there were other materials set up for making explosives. The Quran was open to verse 9:111 which says “Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an.”
The FBI believes that Jabbar may have been influenced by this ideology, which gave him the strength to carry out the act.
Jabbar unleashed terror in New Orleans by driving a vehicle with an Islamic State flag into a crowd celebrating the dawn of the New Year, leaving 10 people dead and at least 35 others injured.
Wearing an armored vest, Jabbar plowed his truck into the crowd, got out, and fired at police officers, who shot him dead. Two police officers were injured. An improvised explosive device—a “country bomb”—was also found on the vehicle.
