Netanyahu to visit White House amid push for Gaza ceasefire

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly set to visit the White House on July 7 for talks with US President Donald Trump, as per senior US officials. The meeting is expected to take place as Washington steps up efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict, which has now entered its ninth month.
As per reports by the AP, this will be Netanyahu’s third visit to Washington since President Trump returned to office in January 2025. Trump recently expressed optimism about a possible ceasefire “within the next week,” with discussions during the meeting likely to focus on proposed truce terms, the situation of hostages still held by Hamas, and the broader regional security environment following Israel’s recent 12-day conflict with Iran.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reportedly stated that the Israeli Prime Minister had shown interest in another meeting and that preparations were underway. She added that President Trump has prioritized ending the ongoing Gaza war since taking office, noting, “It’s heartbreaking to see the images coming from both Israel and Gaza, and the president wants to see this conflict end.”
Ahead of Netanyahu’s visit, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is expected to hold discussions with top US officials in Washington this week to prepare for the meeting.
