A Nepal-origin man has been indicted in the US on murder charges four months after his wife’s disappearance in Virginia.

Raising the suspicions further, Naresh Bhatt googled “How long does it take to get married after a spouse dies” “What happens to debt after a spouse dies,” and “What happens if a spouse disappears in Virginia.” months before his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, went missing.

Naresh also faces charges of concealing the body of his wife and the mother of their daughter.

He is a former Fairfax County police recruit and former US Army Reserve automated logistics specialist.

Mamta, who went missing on July 29, was a 28-year-old nurse and ‘suspected dead’ since then by the authorities.

Suspicious surveillance footage showed Naresh buying cleaning supplies the day after Mamta went missing.

Even though Naresh’s prosecutor claimed that Mamta was alive, the authorities said they found as if something had been "dragged across the floor".

Moreover, the DNA evidence strengthens the case against him. Mamta’s body is yet to be recovered.

The authorities are continuing their search for the body, but the ‘lack of it is not detrimental to the case’.
