Musk again slams Trump’s big bill calling it utterly insane and destructive

Tech billionaire Elon Musk once again criticised the latest version of Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill calling it “utterly insane and destructive”.

“The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Musk wrote on X on Sunday.

He added, “Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”

The remarks brought back tensions between the Tesla CEO and Trump’s administration, particularly following Musk’s recent exit as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

His vocal opposition presents an additional hurdle for Republican Senate leaders already rushing to meet Trump’s July 4 (Independence Day for United States) deadline for final approval.

Earlier this month, Musk also denounced the House version of ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ describing it as a “disgusting abomination”.

At that time, Musk  had written, “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ excludes transfers from accounts held at banks and other financial institutions, and also excludes transfers made via debit and credit cards issued in the United States. It means that a large portion of day-to-day remittances may fall outside the scope of the new tax. Originally, the bill sought a 5% tax but the final House version lowered it to 3.5%.
