Microsoft Outage

A global technical outage at Microsoft has caused computers and laptops to shut down unexpectedly for many companies in the US, India, and Australia.

Around noon today (IST), numerous firms reported their IT services were affected as their computer devices shut down automatically, impacting operations in banks, stock exchanges, and airlines.

Along with an abrupt blue screen, a message was also displayed, “Your system needs to be restarted.”

The impact of this glitch also affected multiple firms in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Gurugram.

An Indian low-cost carrier (LCC) airline posted on X, “Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted.”

Ahmedabad’s SVP airport also reported disruptions in their booking, check-in, access to boarding passes, and flight services.

Notably, three Indian airlines have reported IT disruptions in their operations.

Microsoft outage and its impacts worldwide

The blue screen error, also known as a black screen error or STOP code error, can occur when a serious problem occurs in Windows and it suddenly stops working.

The glitches at Microsoft have affected almost all of the company’s services. Users are facing problems with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Store, and Microsoft cloud-powered services.

The outage detection platform Downdetector also confirmed the worldwide outage.

According to reports, this glitch also caused computers and laptops to shut down in banks and government offices in the US and Australia.

The Australian government has reportedly called for an emergency meeting in light of this outage.

The US’s 911 emergency services were reportedly disrupted in several states, including Alaska, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Ohio.

Services at the UK’s London Stock Exchange were also reported to have been disrupted.

Users were flocking to social media to mention this glitch.

Describing the occurrence of this glitch, a post read, “A message suddenly flashed on our system. The message said that Windows appeared to be loading incorrectly. If you like, you can restart the system and try again.”
