US President Donald Trump has directed federal authorities to examine the names of Democrats referenced in the recently released Jeffrey Epstein documents, a list that includes LinkedIn co-founder and prominent Democratic donor Reid Hoffman, according to ABC News.

According to reports, Trump escalated his criticism, arguing that Democrats should be thoroughly investigated and singling out Hoffman. The President reportedly said that Hoffman “should be under investigation,” adding a sharp personal attack by calling him a sleazebag.

Hoffman’s past interactions with Epstein have been previously documented, including a visit he reportedly made to Epstein’s private island. Hoffman has acknowledged regretting the association, saying it stemmed from fundraising activities connected to the MIT Media Lab.

There have been no public allegations of misconduct against Hoffman by any Epstein survivor.

In a 2019 statement to Axios, Hoffman said his limited contact with Epstein occurred at the request of then–MIT Media Lab Director Joi Ito, who had assured him that Epstein had passed the university’s vetting process. Hoffman emphasized that his final interaction with Epstein took place in 2015 and expressed remorse, saying he now recognizes that his presence at fundraising events helped restore Epstein’s public standing and perpetuated injustice.
