Kurdistan president’s home attacked in Iraq, no casualties reported

The residence of Nechirvan Barzani, president of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region, was reportedly targeted in an attack in the northern city of Duhok on Saturday, causing damage but no casualties, officials said.
A regional government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, reportedly said the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
As per reports, no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani condemned the incident, describing it as a ‘heinous’ act during a phone conversation with Barzani, according to a statement from his office.
He said a joint security and technical team comprising federal authorities and the Kurdish regional government would investigate the incident and initiate legal action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Qubad Talabani said armed groups operating outside state control posed an increasing threat to stability in the country.
