JeM chief’s elder brother Mohammad Tahir Anwar dies of mysterious circumstances in Pakistan

Mohammad Tahir Anwar, the elder brother of Masood Azhar, has died in Pakistan under circumstances that remain unclear. The announcement was reportedly made through an official channel linked to the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.
According to reports, Anwar’s funeral was scheduled to take place at Jamia Masjid Usman Wali in Bahawalpur on Monday. However, no details have been shared about the cause of his death.
Anwar was reportedly one of five brothers of Masood Azhar and was believed to play an active role in the organisation’s activities.
Last year, Masood Azhar had claimed that multiple members of his family, along with several aides, were killed in Indian airstrikes carried out under Operation Sindoor, which was reportedly conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The strikes targeted the group’s headquarters, Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, in Bahawalpur.
In a statement attributed to Azhar who was arrested in India in 1994 and later released following the hijacking of Air India IC 814 hijacking he said those killed included close relatives such as his elder sister, her husband, a nephew and his wife, a niece, and several children from the extended family.
