Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said he deeply regretted the tragic mishap that occurred at the Nasser Hospital in Gaza.

The attack on the Nasser Hospital killed 15 people, including three journalists, one of whom was working for Reuters. Following the incident, Israel faced global backlash over the deaths of journalists in the strike.

Netanyahu said, “Israel deeply regrets the tragic mishap that occurred today at the Nasser Hospital in Gaza. Israel values the work of journalists, medical staff, and all civilians”.

The Foreign Press Association (FPA), reacting to the attack, issued a statement saying they were outraged and in shock.

The FPA demanded an immediate explanation from Israel, highlighting that several journalists from Reuters, AP, and Al Jazeera had already been killed while reporting in Gaza. Their statement read: “This has now gone on far too long. Too many journalists in Gaza have been killed by Israel without justification. Israel continues to block international journalists from independently accessing Gaza”.

The FPA also appealed to international leaders, “Do everything you can to protect our colleagues. We cannot do it ourselves”.

The journalists killed on Monday in the attack on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis were, Al-Masri (Reuters), Mariam Abu-Daqqa (AP), Mohammed Salama (Al Jazeera), Moaz Abu Taha, and Ahmed Abu Aziz. Hatem Khaled, also with Reuters, was wounded.

Following condemnation from world leaders, including US President Donald Trump and the UK Foreign Minister, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated: “The military authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. Our war is with Hamas terrorists. Our just goals are defeating Hamas and bringing our hostages home”.
