In a major escalation, Israel launched strikes targeting the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, as multiple explosions rocked the Iranian capital.
Iranian state media reported that the attack hit areas around the university in western Tehran, with buildings on the campus suffering damage. A nearby natural gas distribution facility was also impacted in the strike, intensifying concerns over critical infrastructure being targeted.
Air defence systems were immediately activated across Tehran as warplanes were heard overhead, while blasts echoed in several parts of the city, including eastern districts. The university had already shifted to online classes amid the ongoing conflict.
In a separate strike, a residential building near Eslamshahr, southwest of Tehran, was hit, with reports indicating at least 13 people were killed.
The strike underscores a sharp intensification in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, with key institutions and civilian zones now increasingly coming under fire.
