The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that Israel carried out strikes on nuclear-linked sites in Iran, including the Arak Heavy Water Plant in central Iran a key facility associated with plutonium production for nuclear weapons.

In a statement posted on X, the IDF said it “will not allow the Iranian regime to continue advancing its nuclear weapons program,” calling it an existential threat to Israel and global security.

The strikes come amid a sharp escalation in the ongoing Middle East conflict between Israel and Iran.

Meanwhile, a missile fired from Iran reportedly evaded Israel’s air defence systems and struck the city of Dimona, near Israel’s primary nuclear facility in the Negev Desert, according to state-owned Kan TV.

Air raid sirens were activated in the region multiple times on Wednesday, warning residents of incoming missile threats, as confirmed by Israel’s Home Front Command. The Israeli military has not officially stated whether the missile was intercepted.

Emergency service Magen David Adom reported no injuries. However, reports suggest the missile landed roughly 13 km northwest of the nuclear site, though the extent of damage, if any, remains unclear.
