Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Calls For Muslim Unity, Urges West Asia To Identify ‘True Enemy’

Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei has called for unity among Muslims, warning that attempts to exploit racial, cultural, political, economic and geographical differences could weaken the Islamic community and make it vulnerable to external pressure.

In a post on social media platform X, Khamenei said countries across the Islamic world should recognise their common interests and work together rather than allowing differences to create divisions.

Khamenei Warns Against Division

Khamenei said the "enemy of Islam" seeks to exploit differences among Muslims to reduce their collective strength and create opportunities for domination.

He argued that anyone whose actions create discord within the Islamic community, whether intentionally or unintentionally, contributes to what he described as the agenda of Islam’s enemies.

The Iranian leader said the issue could not simply be dismissed as ignorance or negligence, particularly amid what he described as growing global pressure on Muslim countries.

Palestine At Centre Of Appeal

Referring to the situation in Palestine, Khamenei questioned whether the current circumstances could have developed if Muslims around the world had remained united.

He appealed to leaders in West Asia and the Persian Gulf to identify what he described as their "real enemy" and stressed that cooperation and solidarity were necessary to address challenges facing the Islamic world.

Khamenei also accused the United States and Israel of opposing unity among Muslims, describing Washington and Israel as hostile to the wider Islamic community, including countries that maintain relations with them.

He further referred to what he described as the humiliation of leaders of some Islamic countries by global powers as evidence of the consequences of dependence and division.

Push For Economic Self-Reliance

Khamenei also linked national resilience with economic independence, calling for greater support for domestic production and reduced dependence on the US dollar for essential transactions.

He described the development of a self-reliant economy as a necessary framework for withstanding external financial pressure and achieving long-term economic stability.

The remarks come amid heightened economic pressure on Iran and efforts by the United States to restrict Tehran’s access to international financial networks.

The Iranian leadership’s renewed emphasis on economic resilience follows the US Treasury’s announcement of "Operation Economic Outcast" on August 24, which Washington said was aimed at targeting Iran’s financial links and restricting sources of revenue.

Khamenei’s comments therefore combine a call for greater political unity among Muslim-majority countries with an appeal for economic independence as Tehran faces continued pressure from the United States and its allies.
