Iran has warned European countries against participating in what it described as a US-Israeli campaign against the Islamic Republic, saying any such involvement would amount to “an act of war”, as per reports.

Reports citing Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said that Tehran would regard any action by European states as direct complicity with its adversaries.

“It would be an act of war,” Baqaei said. “Any such act against Iran would be considered complicity with the aggressors. It would be regarded as an act of war against Iran.”

The warning follows a joint statement by Germany, France and the United Kingdom on Sunday indicating that they could take “proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran’s capability to fire missiles and drones at their source”.

Tensions in the region have intensified amid ongoing hostilities involving Iran, the United States and Israel, raising fears of a broader international confrontation.
