Iran says Strait of Hormuz open for commercial shipping during ceasefire

The Government of Iran on Friday said the Strait of Hormuz will remain fully open for commercial vessels for the duration of the ongoing ceasefire.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced in a post on X, stating that the decision was in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon.
He said passage for all commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz has been declared “completely open” for the remaining period of the ceasefire.
Araghchi added that safe transit would be permitted only along designated and coordinated routes as specified earlier by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, handling a significant share of global oil and gas supplies.
Earlier today, a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect at midnight between Thursday and Friday, following an earlier announcement by US President Donald Trump.
The truce aimed to end more than a month of deadly escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, which has claimed over 2,000 lives.
In a statement, Israel's military said that it struck more than 380 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon over the past day, including militants, launchers and headquarters, Xinhua news agency reported.
