Fresh tensions have emerged after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps released footage allegedly showing charred wreckage of a US aircraft scattered across a desert, with smoke still rising. Iran’s military has claimed that it destroyed three American aircraft involved in a search operation for the crew of a downed US fighter jet.

The development comes days after Donald Trump announced that a second crew member of a US F-15E Strike Eagle shot down over Iran had been successfully rescued in a high-risk military operation deep inside Iranian territory.

According to Trump, both crew members had ejected after the aircraft was brought down, with one rescued earlier while an intensive search was launched for the second officer, described as a colonel. The US operation reportedly involved multiple aircraft, helicopters and ground troops, with strikes carried out on Iranian positions during the rescue mission.

While the US has maintained that the rescue was successful without any American casualties, Iran’s latest claims of downing multiple US aircraft present a sharply contrasting narrative.

The conflicting accounts highlight the escalating tensions and information battle between the two sides, with no independent verification yet available regarding the claims made by either side.
