Iran Embassy dismisses Indian media’s crisis reports, says supply of essential goods stable
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India has firmly rejected reports circulated by some Indian media outlets claiming that Iran is facing economic difficulties and shortage of essential goods. The embassy described such reports as inaccurate and misleading.
In an official statement, the embassy said that there has been no shortage of food, medicine, fuel, or other basic necessities in Iran. It stressed that the country’s supply chain remains stable and that the procurement, transportation, and distribution of essential commodities are continuing without any disruption.
The embassy said that despite facing major challenges, including wars and external pressures, the Iranian government has been able to maintain the steady availability of goods needed by the public.
According to the statement, effective planning and responsible management by the government have helped ensure that markets remain supplied and daily life continues normally.
The statement also highlighted the role of Iranian president's administration in managing the country's economic and supply systems. It said government agencies are continuously monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to ensure that essential goods remain available across the country.
The embassy further urged Indian media organisations to rely on credible, official, and verifiable sources while reporting on developments in Iran. It emphasised the importance of responsible journalism and accurate reporting, particularly on issues related to the country's economy and public welfare. Referring to reports published by a news outlet, the embassy claimed that the agency is associated with groups opposed to Iran and has a history of publishing content that reflects anti-Iran political viewpoints. The embassy argued that such sources cannot be considered reliable for understanding the actual situation in the country.
The statement concluded by reaffirming that Iran's supply of essential commodities remains secure and uninterrupted. The embassy maintained that reports suggesting widespread shortages do not reflect the reality on the ground and urged the media syndicate to verify information before publication.
