A 52-year-old Indian passenger has been arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman sitting next to him on a flight to Australia, as per report.

A man named Sudhir Kumar Chahuan was  reportedly accused of attacking the female passenger in the scoot airlines flight on the way to Perth from Singapore. The incident reportedly took place mid-flight, leaving the woman distressed.

As per reports, the victim quickly alerted the flight crew and was moved to a different seat. The man was then monitored by the Airline crew for the remainder of the flight after alerting authorities on the ground.

The accused was pulled off the flight when it landed, then arrested by the police charging him with sexual intercourse without consent  and multiple counts of indecency without consent, and is being held in custody ahead of a bail hearing set for Friday, noted the reports.

According to reports, authorities said that every passenger had the right to feel safe while travelling, especially in the confined space of an aircraft surrounded by other passengers.

They noted that anyone subjected to alleged unwanted contact should alert airline staff, the AFP, or airport security as soon as it was safe to do, adding that no act of indecency on an aircraft or at an airport was acceptable and that any travellers who broke the law would be dealt with swiftly.
