Hurricane Erin is moving closer to the US East Coast and is expected to bring dangerous conditions across several regions in the coming days, according to forecasts.
The storm is projected to generate life-threatening surf and rip currents along the beaches of the Bahamas, Bermuda, Atlantic Canada, and much of the eastern United States. Authorities have urged beachgoers to heed safety warnings, follow lifeguard instructions, and observe beach flag advisories.
In North Carolina, storm surge flooding and tropical storm conditions are expected to impact the Outer Banks through Thursday. Large waves accompanying the surge could cause severe beach erosion, overwash, and road closures.
The Virginia coast will experience tropical storm conditions on Thursday, with tropical-storm-force wind gusts possible across parts of the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England from Thursday into early Friday.
Meanwhile, Bermuda could see tropical storm conditions on Thursday and Friday, while Atlantic Canada is expected to feel the impact later in the week, with gale-force gusts likely along Nova Scotia’s coast on Friday and Newfoundland on Saturday.
