The flight operations at Germany’s busiest airport – Frankfurt Airport resumed later on July 25 after massive disruptions by the climate protestors who glued themselves to the airport runway.

Six protesters had cut through a fence and marched onto the runway on bicycles, skateboards, and on foot, disrupting flight operations and leading to the cancellation of over 150 flights on July 25.

Frankfurt Airport officials criticized these illegal protests and asserted their right to take action against them, stating that such disruptions could endanger human life.

Germany’s cabinet has approved a draft law that imposes a two-year prison sentence for trespassing on airport grounds, but it still needs approval from lawmakers. Currently, such trespassers can only be fined.
