Ferry carrying tourists capsizes in Indonesia; 4 dead, 38 missing: Reports

A tourist ferry carrying 65 passengers, including crew members and dozens of vehicles, capsized on Wednesday in the Bali Strait in Indonesia, according to reports.

There were reportedly 53 passengers and 12 crew members on board when the boat capsized, resulting in the deaths of four people.

Reports state that 23 people have been rescued safely, while the search for 38 missing people is ongoing.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the National Search and Rescue Agency to continue efforts to rescue the passengers.

Search and rescue operations have been reportedly launched from both Bali Island and East Java, as the incident occurred near the maritime boundary between the two regions. I Nyoman Sidakarya, head of the Bali Search and Rescue Office, confirmed the joint efforts.

The Banyuwangi Search and Rescue Office has reportedly deployed more than 20 personnel to assist in the rescue operations.
