FBI raids home of John Bolton, former Trump advisor who criticised his policies

FBI agents have reportedly raided the Washington, DC, area home of former US National Security Adviser John Bolton on Friday morning, according to a report by the New York Post.
Kash Patel, former Trump aide and now FBI Director, wrote on X: “NO ONE is above the law… FBI agents on mission.” Further details on the raid are awaited.
Bolton served as the advisor to Donald Trump during his first term, but has now become a critic to Trump Administration’s foreign policy.
Meanwhile, Bolton, who served as NSA under Donald Trump during the 2019 Pulwama terror attack in India, had earlier reiterated his support for New Delhi in tackling cross-border terrorism.
Speaking to the news agency, Bolton said it was “highly unfortunate” that the people of Jammu and Kashmir continue to live under instability due to Pakistan-based terrorist activities.
“When I was the National Security Adviser, we faced a comparable situation in 2019, with a terrorist attack that emanated from Pakistani soil. Our view then was that if India was confident the attack came from Pakistani soil, and the government of Pakistan had failed to prevent or aided it, then India had every right to act in self-defence,” he said.
Bolton emphasised that self-defence remains a “fully permissible” response to terrorism, while also cautioning against escalation in South Asia.
He further noted that both Republican and Democratic US administrations have consistently rejected state sponsorship of terrorism, highlighting Pakistan’s long-standing association with terror groups.
