Explosions rock Lahore, day after India’s Operation Sindoor

A day after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ that targeted terror camps in Pakistan, residents fled their homes in panic after sirens blared and loud explosions were heard in Lahore on Thursday.

The blasts were reported in the Gopal Nagar and Naseerabad areas, near Walton Airport. Visuals circulating showed people running from their houses and smoke rising from the blast site.

Local reports from Pakistan claimed that the explosion was likely caused by a drone, measuring 5-6 feet. Local Pakistani police sources confirmed that the drone was shot down by security forces using a jamming system. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure, but authorities have cordoned off the area for investigation.

The explosions led to the temporary suspension of flights at Lahore and Sialkot airports, though it remains unclear whether this was directly linked to the blasts. A separate drone incident was also reported in Chakwal district, where a drone crashed into farmland, but no casualties were reported there either. Security agencies are investigating the origin and purpose of both drones.

This incident comes a day after India'’s airstrikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan, which have escalated tensions between the two nations.
