Violence escalates in Nepal: Ministers attacked, parliament, supreme court set ablaze

Nepal continues to reel under unprecedented unrest as violent protests sweep across the country. In a shocking incident, a video has surfaced showing Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel being chased and beaten by protestors on the streets of Kathmandu.
Another viral clip shows former Prime Minister Arzu Rana Deuba severely injured and bleeding after an alleged mob attack. Reports also indicate that several other ministers and senior leaders, including the Foreign Minister, were targeted during the chaos.
The situation in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal remains tense. Protestors have reportedly set fire to the Nepal Parliament, the Presidential Residence, and the Supreme Court. Incidents of looting and arson have been reported from multiple districts, forcing authorities to deploy the army. Helicopters are being used to airlift ministers and relocate them to safer locations.
The protests, widely dubbed the “Gen-Z Revolution,” are being led by youth and students across the country. Tensions flared after the Nepal government imposed a blanket ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, X (Twitter), and YouTube. The move has been perceived by young protestors as an attack on their right to free expression, triggering large-scale demonstrations that have spiraled into violent confrontations.
With the situation worsening and the government struggling to regain control, Nepal stands on the edge of a full-blown political and social crisis.
