Did Trump just escape another attack? US Secret Service shoot at armed man near White House

In what seems like another close call, US President Donald Trump may have escaped another assassination attempt after the US Secret Service shot an armed man near the White House on Sunday. Luckily, Trump was in Florida at the time of the incident, away from any direct danger.

The confrontation occurred on the west side of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, located just steps away from the White House. The incident has now raised serious concerns regarding the President’s safety.

According to reports, law enforcement agencies in Indiana had informed federal authorities about a man described as ‘suicidal’, who was allegedly heading towards Washington, DC. Following the tip-off, Secret Service agents tracked down the man’s vehicle parked near the White House late Saturday night. Upon approaching, they spotted a man nearby who matched the provided description.

As the agents tried to engage with him, an armed confrontation unfolded, forcing the Secret Service to open fire. The man was rushed to the hospital, and his current condition remains unknown.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Secret Service had to use force after the confrontation escalated. “The incident is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division, which handles officer-involved shootings in DC,” he wrote.

This disturbing event comes just months after Trump survived three assassination attempts last year, with the most notable being on July 13, when he was shot in his ear while addressing a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
