Denmark has warned that if any country tries to attack Greenland, its soldiers will fight back immediately. They won’t wait for orders. This rule was made long ago during the Cold War, but Denmark says it still applies today.

Taking US President Donald Trump’s threat of taking over Greenland seriously, Danish Prime Minister Metter Frederiksen stated that its troops were given orders “to shoot first and ask questions later” if the US attacks Greenland.

European nations like France and Germany are backing Denmark. They say Greenland’s safety is important for all of Europe, and they want to respond together. However, the Danish PM has said that the US attack on Greenland would mark the end of NATO military alliance.

On its part, the US is also thinking about a peaceful way to get closer to Greenland.

Reports say the US may offer large cash payments to people living there, hoping they will support leaving Denmark and working with America instead.

Greenland has only about 57,000 people, but it is very important because of its strategic location and natural resources.

Now, Greenland is stuck between big powers. Denmark wants to protect it. Europe wants unity. The US wants influence.

What was once a cold, quiet island has suddenly become a global hotspot.
