Controversy erupts over Trump’s AI-generated ‘Trump Gaza’ video
US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on Instagram on Wednesday depicting a ‘before and after’ scenario of Gaza under his leadership.
The video first shows war-torn Gaza, highlighting suffering children and destruction. The ‘after’ section portrays a transformed ‘Trump Gaza’, featuring a casino, with Elon Musk vacationing and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping mocktails alongside Trump on a beach chair.
Hamas response to the video
Basem Naim, spokesperson and Hamas Political Bureau Member, condemned the video in an interview with an American weekly. He stated that the depiction does not represent Gaza’s culture. He emphasised that while the people of Gaza hope for economic revival and a better future, such progress cannot happen ‘inside a big prison’.
Trump’s development plan
Reports suggest that Trump has proposed a development plan that involves relocating 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and converting the enclave into a ‘Riviera’ owned by the United States.
Public outrage and reactions
The video has ignited widespread debate online. Some social media users expressed regret, questioning whether they should have voted for Kamala Harris instead.
One user commented: “Please tell me that you’ve been hacked. This is not what we voted for.”
Another wrote: “This is the most tone-deaf and disrespectful thing a president could do. A destroyed country with innocent women and children is not something to mock.”
A third user said: “They are celebrating over the graves of innocent children. This is horrifying.”
Even a Trump supporter commented: “Horrible post.”
