Clogged toilets force Chicago-Delhi Air India flight to turn back after 10 hrs in air
An Air India flight from Chicago to New Delhi was forced to return to Chicago after being airborne for over 10 hours on Thursday. According to reports, the flight had to turn back because multiple lavatories on the aircraft were clogged.
The flight Boeing 777-337 ER AI126 was en route to Delhi when it turned back to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD). The aircraft, which has a seating capacity of more than 340, including first, business, and economy class seats, is equipped with 10 lavatories, two of which are designated for first-class passengers. However, reports suggest that only one lavatory was operational during the flight.
As per reports, an Air India spokesperson confirmed that the flight on March 6 was returned to Chicago due to a technical issue. Upon landing, all passengers and crew disembarked without incident, and accommodations were arranged to minimize any inconvenience caused. The airline also confirmed that alternative flight arrangements were being made to ensure passengers reached their destination.
Additionally, Air India reportedly offered full refunds for cancellations and complimentary rescheduling options for affected passengers, allowing them to choose their preferred solution.
