Seven people were killed, and 25 injured after a suicide bomber targeted a wedding ceremony in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area on Friday, as per news reports.

The attack took place at the residence of Noor Alam Mehsud, a pro-government community leader, in the Dera Ismail Khan district. As per the reports, the bomber detonated an explosive vest among wedding guests, triggering a powerful blast that caused the roof of the venue to collapse.

Reports stated that the guests were dancing at the time of the explosion, which created panic and complicated the rescue efforts. Bloodstains and wreckage were seen scattered across the site.

Among those killed was a former militant who had surrendered to the state, often referred to locally as a ‘good Talib’, along with several of his relatives. Initial reports also confirmed the death of peace committee leader Waheedullah Mehsud, also known as Jigri Mehsud.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where officials said several are in critical condition. Security officials have cordoned off the area, and further investigations are ongoing.

No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack. However, suspicion has fallen on the Pakistani Taliban, or Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has carried out multiple attacks in the region in recent years.

Earlier this month, four members of a peace committee were killed in an attack in Bannu district. In November 2025, seven people were also killed when a peace committee office was targeted in the same province.
