Migrant Boat

A boat carrying 260 migrants reportedly capsized near Yemen’s Aden coast on June 10, killing at least 39 people, said the International Organisation of Migration (IOM).

Search for the remaining 150 missing migrants is currently underway, while 71 have been reportedly rescued from this tragedy.

The boat had departed from the Horn of Africa, state reports, adding that it sank before arriving on the shore east of Aden in Yemen.

Many of the migrants were reportedly rescued from the waters by local fishermen and residents.

As per an official figure released by the United Nations, more than 97,000 migrants travelled from the Horn of Africa to Yemen in 2023.
