Argentine President Javier Milei reiterated his country’s strong alignment with the United States and Israel during a visit to Jerusalem, expressing backing for their stance against Iran. The visit, which included talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation.
During his trip—his third to Israel since taking office—Milei emphasised Argentina’s position against Iran, referencing his government’s earlier decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.
In a joint appearance with Netanyahu, Milei said Argentina stands firmly with Washington and Tel Aviv in confronting terrorism and what he described as threats from the Iranian regime. He linked this stance to Argentina’s own history of attacks, highlighting the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires and the 1992 attack on the Israeli Embassy in the city.
Argentina has long alleged Iranian involvement in both incidents, which together caused significant loss of life and injuries. Courts in Argentina have attributed responsibility to Iran, though Tehran has consistently denied the accusations and declined to hand over suspects connected to the investigations.
The visit underscores a deepening political and strategic alignment between Argentina and Israel, with both sides signaling continued cooperation on security and international policy issues.
