Another Hindu man thrashed and poisoned in Bangladesh

Another Hindu man was killed in Bangladesh. Joy Mahapatro was beaten, thrashed and poisoned by a local in Sunamganj district, according to his family. He later died in the ICU of the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
It was reported that he was called to a local shop where he was assaulted. His family also alleges that Joy was administered poison by someone named Amirul Islam, also calling it a preplanned murder and have demanded justice.
The violence against Hindus in Bangladesh has increased following the death of radical anti-India leader Sharif Osman Hadi, who was planning to contest the February 12 parliamentary elections in the country.
This incident comes just days after a 25-year-old Hindu man died after jumping into a canal to escape a mob chasing him on the suspicion of theft. Mithun Ssarkar from Bhandarpur village was identified as the victim, after his body was recovered by the police.
Earlier, a 27-year-old man named Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death in Mymensingh district. On December 24, Amrit Mondal from Rajbari fell victim to a mob lynching. Separately, a 42-year-old colleague shot and killed Bajendra Biswas in Mymensingh.
A 50-year-old Khokon Das was burned alive in Shariatpur. On January 5, journalist Rana Pratap Bairagi was gunned down in Jessore district. The following day, 40-year-old Sarat Mani Chakraborty was murdered in Narsingdi.
