Tensions surrounding the ongoing conflict in West Asia have escalated further, with Italy reportedly denying US military aircraft access to its bases, a day after Spain barred American warplanes from using its airspace.

The conflict, now in its 31st day, has prompted strong reactions across Europe. Spain has taken a firm stance by refusing to allow its airspace to be used for operations linked to the Iran war. The decision was confirmed by Margarita Robles, who stated that the United States had been informed in advance about the restriction.

Robles emphasised that Spain would not permit either the use of its military bases or its airspace for such operations. She also described the ongoing conflict involving Iran as “illegal and unjust.”

Spain has emerged as one of the more vocal European critics of US and Israeli actions in the region. With Italy now reportedly taking a similar position, the developments signal growing unease within parts of Europe over the expanding conflict and its implications.
