An Israeli strike on a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon has reportedly killed 13 people, according to state media and government officials. The attack, which took place on Tuesday, is said to be the deadliest incident in Lebanon since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah a year ago.

According to local reports, the strike, carried out by a drone, targeted a car parked near a mosque in the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp on the outskirts of Sidon, the National News Agency reported. Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed the death toll at 13 and said several others were injured, though it did not release further details.

Journalists were prevented from accessing the impact site by Hamas fighters present in the area, while ambulances were seen transporting the wounded and the dead.

According to the Israeli military, the strike was aimed at a Hamas facility allegedly being used to prepare an operation against Israel.

Hamas, however, denied that the location was a training site. The group said in a statement that the missile hit a recreational playground and condemned the attack.
