10 killed, 46 injured after train-bus collision in Mexico

A passenger bus collided with a Canadian Pacific Kansas City de México (CPKC de México) freight train in Atlacomulco, State of Mexico, on Monday, leaving at least 10 dead and 46 others injured, according to authorities.
The accident occurred when the bus allegedly attempted to beat the train at a crossing. Municipal civil protection and security teams rushed to the scene to assist the victims.
In an official statement, CPKC de México said it “deeply regrets the fatalities and expresses its most heartfelt condolences to the families.” The company added that its personnel are working on-site with authorities and “will provide all necessary information for the corresponding investigation.”
CPKC de México also urged drivers and transport operators to respect railroad crossing signals and to make a full stop, stressing that such measures are essential to prevent further tragedies.
